On last Friday September 30, a bomb blast took place at the education center in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The target of the attackers were Hazara community students, who were giving exams here. According to the United Nations, 53 people were killed in the blast, including 46 girls. 110 have also been injured.

There have been attacks on the Hazara community in the past as well. After the Taliban came to power on 15 August 2021, there have been several attacks targeting this community. More than 700 people died  and strangely most of the  attacks took place on religious places, schools and hospitals. The population of Afghanistan is about 40 million. Of which 40 lakhs of the population are Hazaras.

Reports says- Hazara community is nowhere in government jobs. They have faced discriminations from many years. They gets kidnapped, thrown out of their homes and their festivals like Navroz are strictly prohibited. Recently United Nations has appointed a new envoy in Afghanistan on human rights matters but they left the country as soon as the Taliban came.

Due to Taliban, a large number of Hazara people left the country. 37-year-old Samina is also one of them. She used to work at Bagram Airbase. In 2020, Sameena had to leave the country and Presently she is living in America.

The present situation is very difficult for the Hazara people. Winter is coming and millions of people are on the verge of starvation. Thousands of people had to left their homes because of the violence. Some people are living in the valleys and some have moved to relatives. No help is reaching them. Even the international world is not helping the Hazara people.

Hazara are the fourth largest community in Afghanistan after Pathans, Tajiks and Uzbeks. They are believed to be descendants of the Mongols. The descendants of the Mongol ruler Genghis Khan followed Buddhism, but the Hazaras became Shia Muslims instead of Buddhists. These are minorities in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Being Shia, They also has ties with Iran. Sunni Muslims live against the Hazara community because of their different religions and beliefs. This is the reason why Hazara has been a target of terrorist organizations IS and Taliban.
