Italy reached Semi-Final in the Nations League with a 2-0 win away against Hungary, thanks to goals by Giacomo Raspadori and Federico Dimarco.
Italy, who will missed to qualify second consecutive time at World Cup, found solace in Europe as they won a 2-0 win in Budapest on Monday against Hungary for first place in their Nations League group. Friday's winner against England, Giacomo Raspadori, poked the ball home in the 27th minute after Wilfred Gnonto bounced off Hungary's poor back pass to give Italy the lead.
"We needed these matches to revive the excitement, even if the World Cup remains an open wound and we can't go back," Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma said.
"We have to start again, we have to do it for Italy."
Hungary, who started the final round of the top games of Group A3, fought hard but Donnarumma made two miraculous saves from Loic and Adam. Two minutes later, Federico DeMarco smashed his first international goal and Italy's 1,500th goal.
Italy followed the Netherlands and Croatia in the last four of the League of Nations, scheduled for June 2023.
Italy coach said, "We were great for first 70 minutes, but I didn't like the performance in last 20 minutes."
