His sister, Stephanie Cormier, told on Wednesday the family has been left "devastated" by his "unexpected death".
"Robert was an athlete, an actor and a great brother," He had a passion for helping others and was always looking to achieve more in career."
"Robbie passed away due to road accident," Cormier said. "Our family would like to thank everyone at the Critical Care team for the compassionate care they provided to Robbie and the kindness they showed to our family in this difficult time. We will be very grateful."
In a post on Twitter, the "Heartland" production team said Cormier was a "beloved member" of the team who will be "deeply missed."
He was a part of that show from past two seasons. "On the behalf of Heartland cast and crew, our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time," they tweeted
Cormier, who was born in Toronto and also made the guest appearances on the defunct series "Ransom" and "Designated Survivor."
